We Are All Magics

This school year I have the privilege to guide and instruct Barberton Intermediate School learners with colleague Mrs. Norman art teacher. There are 740 students in the grade band 3rd to 5th grade. Through the Ohio Arts Council teaching artist grant we began working and collecting stories and artifacts relating the student and their family, to the community and history of Barberton.

The classroom has become a wealth of knowledge with thoughtful discussions about their ideas that also will inform the large hallway mural. The hallway chosen to hold the mural for many years to come connects the old and new build of the school. Each student will have the opportunity paint the wall and be a part of the collective history being made. The individual work from learners done in the classroom will be mounted in an exhibition for view later this year.

Mural project funded in part by generous donations from Ohio Arts Council, Wooster Brush, Sherwin Williams and Barberton Community Foundation.
